First year player Darcy Tucker impressed in his first appearance for the club against Richmond, but Ross Lyon said he’d already ruled the youngster out of Freo’s game against Adelaide in Mt Barker.
“Darcy’s currently in Melbourne getting his knee checked out,” Lyon said.
“In the game he was fine, we thought it was a cork, but we gave it a scan and decided to check it out.
“Hopefully, it’s not too serious but we’ve decided to rule him out for this week.”
Tucker was a highlight in Freo’s 60 point win over Richmond, gathering 21 disposals and looking composed in his first outing against AFL competition, but Lyon wasn’t overly surprised by the performance.
“He was about our third highest possession winner, and honestly, we think he’s flown under the radar a bit.”
While Tucker will miss this Sunday’s NAB Challenge game against Adelaide, Lyon was confident the findings on his knee wouldn’t be serious in nature.
“There’s no chance of surgery we wouldn’t think.”
