Fremantle-listed defender Taylin Duman doesn’t expect the forecast of wet weather to affect the result of the 2017 WAFL Grand Final between Peel Thunder and Subiaco at Domain Stadium on Sunday.
Duman has played 16 games for Peel in 2017 with two of those against Subiaco, including the Thunder’s 24-point second semi-final win over the Lions a fortnight ago.
The 19-year-old expects that Peel and Subiaco will be able to handle the hotly contested footy in the wet.
“You never know what the weather’s going to be like,” Duman said.
“It’s good to have a training session in the wet today and if it’s wet on Sunday that’s how it is and we’re prepared for that.
“I think Subi are a really good contested side as well so it could favour both sides.”
The Fremantle rookie is lining up for his second grand final in three years, playing his part in the Oakleigh Chargers winning U18s side in 2015.
“The first couple of minutes were really hot but being the first team that can settle the game down will really holds you in good stead for the day," Duman said.
“I’m really motivated, it’s what you play for, to win grand finals. I’m super excited to play on the weekend and hopefully, we get the job done."
The clash will be the last ever WAFL Grand Final to be played at Domain Stadium with half price tickets at $15 for adults, free entry for kids aged 15 and under and a special tribute to WA Football’s legends.
The historic game will feature a pre-game parade from WA Football Hall of Fame inductees, past Sandover and Simpson medalists, and members of the 1977 State of Origin team - celebrating the 40th anniversary of WA’s win over Victoria.
A $3 meat pie offer will be on offer to encourage all fans to help create a great atmosphere for the last WAFL Grand Final at the home of football in WA.
