Eleven Fremantle listed players featured in Peel’s final pre-season game ahead of the opening round of the 2017 WAFL Season, with the Thunder defeating West Perth by 63 points on Saturday at Rushton Park.
Nick Suban and Hayden Crozier helped lead the way for Peel with nearly identical numbers, racking up 29 disposals, five marks and five inside 50s each.
Harley Balic continued his strong form from the 2016 WAFL Finals Series with 24 touches, while Tommy Sheridan had 21 disposals and five marks.
Ethan Hughes and Brady Grey both collected 19 disposals each and Sam Collins helped shore up Peel’s defence with 11 disposals and three marks.
Three of Freo’s draftees from the National and Rookie drafts made an appearance in Brennan Cox, Taylin Duman and Luke Strnadica.
Drafted primarily as a defender, Cox proved his versatility as a forward, kicking two goals while taking six marks and collecting 14 possessions.
Duman, taken with pick three in the Rookie Draft, had 15 possessions consisting of 11 kicks and four handballs.
A versatile ruck/forward, Strnadica took over ruck duties to collect 10 hit outs after Michael Apeness suffered a tear in his posterior cruciate ligament.
Apeness collected 27 hit-outs and nine disposals before coming off the ground, and is expected to miss between six to eight weeks.
The Thunder will open their WAFL season against East Perth on Saturday, 18 March, with bounce down at 7:05pm at Leederville Oval.
