Watch out for a young Sun standing next to his boyhood idol. Key defender Steven May admitted during the week that Matthew Pavlich was his hero growing up. He’ll be doing everything he can to ensure ‘Pav’ doesn’t do any of the things that May loved watching the Freo skipper do over the past decade.
Watch out for the other Suns. Gary Ablett is the best player in the AFL, but he’s no longer a one-man-gang. Jaeger O’Meara is a prodigious talent, David Swallow was a top draft pick and showed brilliant form in round 1 and Dion Prestia has emerged as one of the most prolific ball-winners in the league. Ross Lyon won’t be underestimating any of them.
Watch out for the Starlight Purple Haze tin rattlers. They’ll be asking those attending the game for a kind donation to help the Starlight Children’s Foundation brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children.
