In every AFL game, Michael Walters feels he has his family right there with him.
Speaking to Fox Footy’s ‘On the Mark’, Walters spoke about how he uses his family to stay level headed and motivated on the field.
“I wear wrist tape in the game and I write the girls' names down on it, so it’s a trigger throughout games,” Walters said.
“If I’m having a rough patch, it’s a trigger for me to keep going. It gives me the confidence to do what I have to do on the footy field.
“It’s motivation, definitely.”
After admitting he fell out of love with the game early in his career, Walters said becoming a father helped him find the passion again.
“They (my daughters) mean he world to me, they’re the reason why I do it,” Walters said.
“And you can probably tell in my footy, I’ve found the love for the game again.
“I don’t go out there for accolades or anything like that, I’m going out there just to have fun and enjoy footy the same way I did when I was a kid.
“My kids definitely brought that out of me.”
