An overuse of the handball was Fremantle’s undoing in their loss to Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday, according to Griffin Logue.
The defender said that Fremantle needed to take the game on instead of inviting the Demons’ pressure.
Fremantle led the handball count 173-150 on the day while the Demons moved the ball more by foot, leading Freo 237-209.
“I thought as a team we defended well but it was more from overusing the handball. We were getting into a bit of a handball game where we kept handballing and they came and pressured us,” Logue said.
“It doesn’t help when we have (Stephen Hill and Jesse Hogan) go down (due to injury) but we can’t use that as an excuse.
“Normally our mechanics stand up and the biggest thing is that we’re going to go to the end and trying as hard as we could. That’s what matters.”
