- Mundy the 'epitome of a Fremantle player'
- 'It's a big step forward for this group'
- Freo forwards creating options
There was a long list of strong individual performances from Fremantle’s 24-point win against GWS and Jesse Hogan feels a number of them might not be noticed on the stat sheet.
Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe once again dominated in the midfield with 18 contested possessions and 13 clearances while Ed Langdon continued his emergence to lead Freo with 32 possessions, five rebound 50s and four inside 50s.
The forward line enjoyed a good spread of goal-kickers, led by four goals from Brandon Matera while Hogan, Matt Taberner and Michael Walters kicked three goals each.
To Hogan, the efforts of defender Alex Pearce (seven disposals) and small forward Sam Switkowski (14 disposals, one goal) also stood out.
Hogan highlighted a moment in the final term where Pearce saved a likely Giants goal.
“I think he had a huge contest in the final quarter which was probably 70-30 to (Jeremy) Cameron’s way and he evened it and we ended up coming out with the ball,” Hogan said.
“That was a massive team lifter. He gets the biggest job every week and nine times out of 10 he does the job. He’s been huge for this team.”

Hogan added that Switkowski made life easier for his fellow forwards by making things difficult for the Giants defenders.
Switkowski led Fremantle with 26 pressure acts and had the second-most tackles with four.
“He played more of a pressure role that doesn’t really get acknowledged as he’s not kicked as many of the goals or taking the big marks,” Hogan said.
“He really set the tone for us early, his tackling pressure didn’t allow their half-backs to use the ball the way they liked. Across the whole board, it was huge for us.”
