Fremantle debutant Ed Langdon decided against watching last year’s National Draft to avoid the anxiety and hype surrounding it.

Instead he sat in his car and listened on the radio.

The Sandringham product was Fremantle’s third pick at 54 in the 2014 National Draft but is the second player from that draft to debut for the club.

Less than 12 months later, he could not avoid the limelight when he had his first touch in his debut for Fremantle.

The touch, just a few minutes into the first term, was met with an immense roar from the home crowd at Domain Stadium in Sunday’s 54-point win.

The pacey midfielder won 18 touches in a solid performance.

“It was a whirlwind, I can’t believe I’ve already done it, it hasn’t sunk in yet,” Langon said post-game.

“I was lucky enough to get an early touch, to settle the nerves.

“It was pretty special, something I won’t forget.”

Langdon said he chose not to watch the draft after watching his brother Tom Langdon, who plays for Collingwood, go through the process in 2013.

“I didn’t want to get caught up in that,” he said.

“My brother had a bad experience with it.

“I thought if it was going to happen, it was going to happen.”
