Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe has dismissed fears he is battling a lingering elbow injury, declaring he will lead the Flyers in the realestate.com.au AFLX tournament at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
A scare went through the Freo camp at training on February 4 when Fyfe was tackled and landed heavily on his right arm, on the same spot that was already bandaged to protect an inflamed, painful bursa.
There had been speculation Fyfe would be a late withdrawal from the AFLX competition, but the 2015 Brownlow medallist insisted he would lead the way for the Flyers.
"Yeah, (it's) great. Elbow's all good, for now," Fyfe told reporters before a Flyers training session at Gosch's Paddock on Thursday.
Asked if he was still managing the bursa, Fyfe repeated that it was "all good".
The 27-year-old said the AFLX venture was "a unique opportunity" that would help, rather than hinder, his preparation for the premiership season.
"My program's been built around the knowledge that I was playing in this fixture, so I'll probably play about 35 minutes of game time Friday night, which is about 20 minutes less than I usually would, so it won't interrupt my pre-season at all," he said.
Fyfe was also excited that Freo's boom recruit Jesse Hogan, the former Melbourne forward who is on his way back from a foot injury, would take part in an intra-club hitout on Friday.
"Jesse's been building over the last couple of weeks and he's an exciting prospect for us," he said.
