Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon declared utitlity Tendai Mzungu would come under serious consideration for selection against Brisbane for Sunday’s match at Domain Stadium.
 
Mzungu starred for partner WAFL club Peel Thunder in their 62-point win over Perth, having 26 possessions, nine inside-50s, six tackles and one goal.
 
“He is going well, he played really well on the weekend,” Lyon said.
 
“There’s pressure on for spots, so that’s fortunate.
 
“He played quite well, so he did himself no harm.
 
“I can’t stand here and select the team, but he can certainly play good senior football and he’s in good form.
 
“He’ll come under serious consideration and he brings great run to the team.”
 
Lyon said the 25-man squad would be selected later this afternoon, but mentioned it would be difficult to change a winning line-up.
 
“We haven’t had match committee yet, we need to have a good look at it,” he said.
 
“Peel played really well, there were some really good performances down there without individualising.
 
“We’re a democracy, so we’ll have match committee later today to put a squad in.
 
“There’s some players putting up performances, but at the end of the day we did fight on pretty well against Collingwood.”
 
The Freo senior coach was asked whether bringing in a young midfielder such as Connor Blakely and playing Nat Fyfe more forward would be an option to help improve the team’s ball use and forward line function.

“That’s interesting, (assistant coach) Peter Sumich spoke about that too,” Lyon said.
 
“Connor still has a bit of work to do and that’s a pretty handy forward.
 
“You think very clearly about your footy, it’s terrific.”
 
Lyon also indicated key defenders Alex Silvagni, Zac Dawson and Michael Johnson were all on track with their rehabilitation programs but ruled out Michael Apeness for the rest of the season.
