Hayley Miller, Madi Scanlon, Tahleah Mulder and a potential AFLW debutant in Holly Ifould have been named as possible inclusions to Walyalup’s final 21 that will take on the Western Bulldogs for their last regular home and away match at Fremantle Oval on Sunday.
This could be Miller’s first appearance since round 6 after working through a calf injury, while Scanlon missed last week’s match against GWS under concussion protocols.
They join Dana East, Jae Flynn, Amy Mulholland and Ariana Hetherington on the Club’s extended bench of eight.
Defender Ash Brazill was ruled out of the match in the Club’s injury update earlier this week and is the only exclusion from the squad.
Senior Coach Lisa Webb spoke to media on Thursday morning and was confident the Western Bulldogs would come out firing.
“We know the Bulldogs are a really strong side. We’ve been watching them closely over the last few weeks as well and they’re building a great brand,” Webb said.
“They’re certainly a team you don’t want to underestimate because as you saw last week against the Saints, I thought they were really impressive.
“We want to make sure we continue to execute like we have over the last few and bring some great momentum into week 1 of the finals.”
Emma O’Driscoll will captain the side for the first time this Sunday, in the absence of Ange Stannett who will continue managing her coaching role from the bench.
Sunday’s match will be the first time Walyalup face the Bulldogs since round 3 in Season 2022b.
Walyalup’s extended bench will be trimmed to five players tomorrow when final teams are announced at 2pm WST at fremantlefc.com.au.
Bouncedown for the clash is at 4.05pm, with the game broadcast live on 7mate and FoxFooty, as well as being streamed live on Kayo Sports.
Tickets for the match are $15 for adults, while juniors (under 18) go free. Make sure you purchase your ticket online before the game to avoid the queues.
