Fremantle General Manager of Football, Strategy and Special Projects Peter Bell has confirmed that the Club has offered Richmond a deal for the trade of Shai Bolton.

Speaking on Continental Tyres Trade Radio on Wednesday morning, Bell said the Club’s offer to Richmond was strong.

“We’ve obviously been in discussions with Shai and his manager for a little while now and he’s very keen to get back to Western Australia,” Bell said.

“We’ve gone in with what we believe to be a really strong offer and as everyone is aware the draft is very strong, so the offer that we’ve put forward is strong on any given year, but particularly this year we believe it to be a strong offer.

“There is a fair amount of negotiation to go so I’ll let David Walls (Fremantle Head of Player Personnel) and Blair Hartley (Richmond GM of Football Talent) do that over the next week, but hopefully from a Fremantle perspective we can make it work.”

Bell also echoed what Walls and Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick stated earlier in the week regarding the resigning of stars Andrew Brayshaw and Alex Pearce.

“Those conversations are going really positively with Andy and also his manager Tom Petroro, hopefully it can gather a lot of momentum over the coming weeks.

“We see a highly invested player; I can’t really think of a player more invested in the Club, being in Western Australia and helping us improve than Andy.

“We are really confident (the contract extension will happen), but we want to make sure we are doing everything we can to make sure we get that deal done.

"It is all tracking positively at the moment.

“Alex has been an outstanding leader. He’s really grown his leadership (this year) and unfortunately getting injured late in the year it was hard to replace him, not only from a playing perspective but also that on-field leadership with that really vocal and demanding captain out on the field.

“There has been some preliminary discussions and I’m sure that David Walls and the team will be sitting down with Alex’s representation and getting something sorted soon.”
