Fremantle have revealed a Club debutant in Gabby Biedenweg-Webster to take on Port Adelaide this Saturday in South Australia.

The utility is set to make her official Club debut at Alberton Oval after Senior Coach Lisa Webb revealed the news ahead of Wednesday afternoon’s training session.

The playing group were surprised with the debutant announcement as it appeared on the Victor George Kailis Oval's big screen.

Webb said she was proud of Biedenweg-Webster’s efforts since arriving at the Club, and is looking forward to seeing what she can do on Saturday.

“Since Gabby’s walked through the door, she’s been an exceptional team player."

“She’s got some really clear attributes we think will complement our team – she’s really strong overhead, she’s got great pace and agility, and she’ll be really important for us going forward."

The former Gold Coast Sun was signed as a replacement player for captain Ange Stannett just under three months ago, and has quickly impressed in both the backline and forward line.

“She compliments the work our backs have been doing now, especially with Braz and Drisco, but she’s also got that ability to flip forward as well and support Áine with her strong aerial ability,” Webb said.

Biedenweg-Webster made an appearance in the pre-season hitouts against Collingwood and West Coast Eagles, with both matches resulting in a win for Fremantle.

“She’s worked through a couple of niggles, she’s been training really solidly now, so we’re looking forward to giving her an opportunity against Port,” Webb said.

“She’s really switched on, she knows what she can bring to the game, and she’s been working hard with the girls to get up to speed with where we’re at.”

This weekend will mark Biedenweg-Webster's fourth AFLW game in her career, with the utility having played three games across two seasons at the Gold Coast Suns.

“She’s played three games previously at another Club, but for her to upskill herself, get to work on her craft and in week 3 be making a Club debut, we’re really proud of the work she’s done,” Webb said.

Fremantle’s full week 3 team to take on Port Adelaide will be announced via fremantlefc.com.au at 4.20pm WST on Thursday afternoon.
