The AFLW RAC Derby scheduled to be played at Optus Stadium on Saturday, 19 October has been moved to Leederville Oval.

The round 8 match has been set to coincide with the Telethon weekend with Fremantle and West Coast coming together to support the State’s biggest charitable event.

Freo and West Coast play just once in 2024, and hosting the RAC Derby at Leederville Oval aligns with the AFLW’s mission of bringing footy to boutique venues to celebrate women’s footy in a festival-like atmosphere.

Mayor Alison Xamon said the City of Vincent was “stoked” to be hosting the AFLW RAC Derby.

“The entire community loved the atmosphere we had during the WAFL Grand Final in 2022 and we want to recreate that experience for the AFLW RAC Derby,” Mayor Xamon said.

“We are also improving infrastructure and facilities at Sullivan Logistics Stadium in close partnership with the State Government, AFL, WAFC, Subiaco Football Club and East Perth Football Club.

“Together we are developing WA’s best-located Tier 2 AFL venue for marquee matches like this.”

Being a West Coast home game, tickets will be available for Fremantle on Wednesday 21 August from 10am WST for members and 2pm WST for the general public.

There will be a number of activations in support of Telethon at the game.
