Fremantle High Performance Manager Phil Merriman says Club captain Alex Pearce will be available to play in this week’s Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32, granted he makes it through his fitness test later in the week.
Pearce left the ground during the third quarter of the Club’s round 15 win over the Gold Coast Suns, with scans later confirming the 29-year-old had suffered a left forearm fracture.
Pearce has since been sidelined for three consecutive weeks, but Merriman today confirmed the captain would likely be available for this week’s crucial meeting with the Demons.
“He (Pearce) was desperate to play last week in front of the hometown, but didn’t quite get there,” Merriman said.
“I can assure the Freo fans he’s jumping over all the hurdles and is looking good for this weekend."
Ruckman Sean Darcy who also missed the Club’s round 18 loss to Hawthorn due to a concussion he received the previous week is likely to be available to play this weekend.
“He has progressed all the way through and is on track to get through all of the protocols,” Merriman said.
Unfortunately, midfielder Neil Erasmus will be sidelined from the action after receiving a heavy head knock at the opening bounce of Peel Thunder's clash on the weekend.
“It was really unfortunate for Neil being the first contest of the game,” Merriman said.
“Neil is good, he’s been into the Club yesterday and today and will have the week off obviously.
“We can hopefully expect to see him available to play the following week.
Meanwhile, speedy defender Brandon Walker also featured for Peel Thunder’s league side for the first time since round nine of 2021, with Merriman confirming the 21-year-old played through the game unscathed following an AC joint complaint the week prior.
“(Walker) got through fine.
“He didn’t feel the shoulder at all so that is a good result for Walks.”
