TWELVE Fremantle-listed players were in action for Peel Thunder at the weekend, which saw the home side fall 23-points short to reigning premiers East Fremantle.

An undermanned Thunder side put up a valiant fight against the reigning premiers but were ultimately unable to chase down the Sharks 28-point lead heading into the final term.

The Thunder were dealt an early blow losing in-form midfielder Neil Erasmus to a head knock at the very first centre bounce of the day.

Matthew Taberner (seven disposals, three goals) worked hard to get himself into the game with all three of his majors coming in the second half as he helped keep the door open for a rallying Thunder side.

Ethan Stanley (20 disposals, four tackles) and Nathan O’Driscoll (18 disposals, four marks) both had solid all round displays.

Karl Worner (22 disposals, eight marks, four tackles) provided Peel’s best run out of defence and held up well down back in a defence that conceded 13 more inside 50’s.

Brandon Walker (14 disposals, four marks, five tackles) made his first league appearance for the Thunder since round nine of 2021, with the small defender holding up well after suffering a shoulder injury for Fremantle the week prior.

Max Knobel (50 hit-outs, 16 disposals, one goal) also played his first league game for the Thunder since round three of last year, with the 206cm big man rallying to give the undermanned Thunder midfield a lift in the second half.

Odin Jones (10 disposals, two goals) made his WAFL League debut and gave the Thunder a good option down forward for his two majors.

Ethan Hughes (20 disposals, four tackles, three marks) proved to be a safe pair of hands down back and was clean with the ball.

Despite the loss the Thunder remain top of the WAFL ladder by percentage.

Peel will now have a round 16 bye before returning to face Perth at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday 27 July.
