TWELVE Fremantle listed players were in action for Peel Thunder at the weekend, which saw the home side remain top of the WAFL ladder after securing a dominant 74-point win over West Coast.
The Thunder led at every quarter, with key forwards Pat Voss (19 disposals, nine marks, six goals) and Matthew Taberner (14 disposals, nine marks, four goals) having an afternoon out at Rushton Park as the home side booted 18 majors for the day.
Nathan O’Drsicoll (15 disposals, six marks, three goals) made his long-awaited return to football, impacting on the scoreboard after spending several weeks sidelined with a knee injury.
O’Driscoll’s day was highlighted by a trademark goal deep in the pocket late in the game.
Midfielders Will Brodie (34 disposals, six inside 50s, three tackles) and Neil Erasmus (30 disposals, nine marks, six tackles) continued their run of dominant form in the midfield to help Peel win the inside 50 count 57-38.
Small forward Tom Emmett (21 disposals, six marks, two goals) was impressive with his forward craft, booting the two first major of the day, while recent debutant Hugh Davies (22 disposals, 11 marks) helped lead a defensive line that restricted the Eagles to just six goals for the day.
Peel will now face the sixth-placed Sharks at East Fremantle Oval on Saturday 13 July.
