Fremantle forwards Sam Switkowski and Michael Frederick are loving playing amongst a forwards group that is being fuelled by positive energy and hard work.
Fremantle have kicked 85 points or more in the Club’s last three fixtures (3-0 in this time), highlighted by Saturday nights 51-point victory over Richmond in wet and cold conditions at Optus Stadium.
“I think it helps as a team when we are performing well us small forwards to get a little bit more of an opportunity to impact offensively,” pressure forward Sam Switkowski said on the Final Siren Podcast post-match.
“We are just sticking to what is important in our game which is our defence and our pressure which gives us good looks going the other way.
“I’m really enjoying playing with guys like Fred (Michael Frederick) and our other small forwards.
“It’s really enjoyable playing down there.”
Similarly, Frederick was unable to hold back his excitement for former housemate and great mate Josh Treacy who kicked a career-high five goals.
“I’ve had the privilege of living with him for two and a half years…at the end there I gave him a big hug and just told him how proud I am of him,” Frederick said on the podcast.
“JT brings the same energy every week, he’s not one that tries to clear out the forward line and kind of put it all on himself he just works hard and gets to the right spots.
“It’s nice when we do move the ball the way we do, he’s always ticking up at the footy but is (also) always working hard at the contest and then following up and getting down the ground.
“He’s put in a mountain of work… and he’s certainly come a long way.”
Treacy has kicked nine goals in the last three weeks, and now has 35 goals for the season (his career best) to sit sixth in the Coleman Medal race.
