Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir loved what he saw from key forward Josh Treacy in his 50th AFL game, describing the 21-year-old as ‘workhorse’.

Josh Treacy was a force in his 50th AFL game, with the young key forward supplying multiple arial highlights and pressure acts in his milestone game.

“He gets contest to contest, he keeps presenting offensively,” Longmuir said during the post-match media conference.

“His second efforts for a big man and his ability to chase are top shelf and he loves the physicality of the game.

Treacy’s first major of the day came after a spectacular contested mark, with Longmuir crediting Treacy’s season to the dedication the young forward has put in off the field.

“I've admired his development because there were some things he needed to work on in his game to be that player for us and he’s worked his backside off,” Longmuir said.

“You love to see guys who are purposeful with the work they do, rep after rep, you love to see those guys succeed.

“He’s not the finished product but he’s a good product for us at the moment. He’s going well.”

In another positive sign for the Club, Longmuir praised the midfield group’s ability to impact the scoreboard as well as win the clearance battle (44-32).

“We went in with an extra mid today and we got them rotating through the forward line a little bit more.

“They got forward out of the midfield at the right times and some of it was just off the back of position and the way we want to position.”

Hayden Young was a standout, with the big-bodied midfielder kicking three goals to accompany his 24 disposals, while Andrew Brayshaw (32 disposals, eight tackles, one goal) and Caleb Serong (29 disposals, seven clearances, one goal) both put together solid games.

“It’s good to see they (the midfielders) finished their work off,” Longmuir said.

Fremantle sit in fifth place on the AFL ladder with a clash with the Sydney Swans next Saturday set to be a great test for Longmuir's side.
