Exciting forward Michael Walters has been named in Fremantle’s 25-man squad for Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne at Patersons Stadium.

Youngsters Tom Sheridan and Matt Taberner were also included in the preliminary team.

The final 22 and emergencies will be finalised at 2.30pm on Friday afternoon and can be seen on fremantlefc.com.au.

Freo general manager of football Chris Bond said Walters would be a welcomed inclusion, but he still had to tick a few boxes at the club’s final training session on Friday morning.

“He should be fine and ready to go,” Bond said.

“He’ll obviously just want to get through our main training session tomorrow, but we’re expecting him to get through and play.

“He adds an enormous amount to us with his form before he went out of the side.”

Bond said the club had been very pleased with the form of tall forward Taberner and midfielder Sheridan at Peel Thunder this season.

“Matt’s got a really high work rate and we’ve been very happy with his form,” he said.

“Tom has still got a bit of work to do tomorrow but we’ve been very pleased with the way he’s gone about his football, especially in the past couple of week’s, he’s been very impressive.

“He’s been able to get inside and outside as a midfielder and we rate him very highly.”

Sunday’s game against the Kangaroos will be Tendai Mzungu’s 50th match if he is selected in the final 22.

Luke McPharlin will move into equal fourth with Paul Hasleby on 208 games on the club’s games record list.
