Fremantle’s executive general manager of football Joe Brierty has dismissed recent claims about Justin Longmuir’s future beyond 2024.
Speaking to SEN radio on Tuesday, Brierty stated that reports linking Fremantle to an opposition Club's Senior Coach were false and misleading to members and fans.
“When those kinds of stories come out and there is no basis or validity to them, it’s hard for us to come out and make any kind of comment,” Brierty said.
“The main thing is, it’s frustrating because it misleads people, misleads our fans, and our members.
“We get the landscape we’re in, and people are trying to grab headlines.”
Brierty has been impressed by Longmuir’s approach in his fifth pre-season in the senior role and is excited to see what the playing group can achieve in 2024.
“From my point of view JL’s (Longmuir) been fantastic, I love the way he’s going about it and connecting with our players,” Brierty said.
“The way he’s coaching our coaching group and implementing our game plan, he’s as driven as anyone at the moment.
“We can’t wait to see what our group can do this year across the board.”
Justin Longmuir is contracted until the end of 2024, with the Club’s focus being purely on the pre-season and round one against Brisbane.
