The Freo Tipsters Competition, brought to you by Programmed, is underway for the 2016 season and it’s your chance to test your footy knowledge and put yourself in the running for a trip to the 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final. 

In 2015, a simple footy tipping contest became something so much more for last year’s winner Wayne Skuza from Fremantle, who turned a bit of fun into an AFL Grand Final experience. 

“It wasn’t until about four rounds to go where I thought, I’m actually in with a chance here.” Skuza said.

“In those last four weeks I made up a few games, and I ended up cracking it on the last game in round 23!” 

In addition to the trip to Melbourne, Skuza said the competition had provided him a bit of fun with friends. 

“It’s given me a fair amount of bragging rights with my mates,” he laughed. 

“I was telling them I was in with a chance, and they’d tell me I had ‘Buckley’s’ chance” 

“I’ve probably got another 15 or 20 mates playing now just because they thought if it happened to me it could happen to anyone!”

Skuza had a very strong message for anyone thinking of competing in the Freo Tipsters Competition in 2016.

“You just have to give it a go,” he said.

“It’s all fun and that’s the idea of it, and then all of a sudden in round 23 you could be cheering for a team and then off to the Grand Final a few weeks later.” 

Freo Tipsters has weekly prizes for the best tipster each week, as well as signed 2016 Freo guernsey’s up for grabs in the “The Gauntlet” and “Pick 5” competitions.
