Luke Ryan was one of Fremantle’s best on a disappointing night that saw Fremantle slide to 14th on the AFL ladder following a 53-point loss to Carlton.
Ryan recorded a career-high 880 metres gained and collected a game-high 35 disposals (including 30 kicks) against the Blues.
The 27-year-old was also clean with his possession going at 88.6 per cent disposal efficiency and had 17 intercept possessions and 10 marks.
The intercept defender told 6PR about the lack of communication on-field that broke down Freo’s structure throughout the game.
“We were just working in isolation, that third quarter was terrible there was no communication it was backs v forwards v mids.
“I said in the meeting we have to demand more of each other, no soft ears - if you want to say something say it and then talk after the game.
“We are all grown men and can cop it and we have got to fix it pretty quick.”

Ryan was strong on his assessment of Fremantle’s performance which saw them lose the clearance count 41-35 and the inside 50s 60-42.
“We were pretty shocking from the start, and we fought back for like five minutes,” Ryan said.
“We couldn’t get the ball out of our back half, we couldn’t keep it in our front half, we couldn’t win a contest.
“We weren’t good anywhere.”
Ryan said a lack of pressure put Freo on the back-foot for much of the day.
“We don’t want to start our ball movement from defensive 50, we want to keep it in our front half and lock it away and put the opposition under serious pressure,” Ryan said.
“To kick two goals up until three-quarter time is not us.
“There was no pressure on the ball and they could do what they wanted.
“We need to get back to locking it in, being a strong defensive team and creating scoring opportunities from our front half, which we didn’t do tonight.”
