Sub increase for NAB Cup
The AFL wrote to all clubs today to advise it would alter the requirements around the composition of teams for rounds two and three of the NAB Cup
Clubs were today advised that teams would now be able to name three interchange players and three substitute players for the next two rounds of competition, after initially being advised that teams would comprise three interchange players and one susbstitute player, coupled with a trial cap on rotation numbers.
The allowance of two extra substitute players has been introduced on the grounds that;
· Clubs would now have more flexibility to manage game time for players across the pre-season period
in the NAB Cup;
· Maintain interchange numbers at three for as many games as possible to ensure the validity
of the interchange cap trial;
· To allow additional flexibility for any match affected by extreme heat.
In the case of any match that may be played in extreme heat, clubs have been advised the three substitute players would be declared as full interchange players, allowing six on the bench, with no cap on rotations.
The changes have been made to the playing conditions for the NAB Cup after the AFL consulted further this week with medical experts, the Laws of the Game committee, clubs, the AFLPA and AFLCA.
