Garrick Ibbotson knows all too well how debilitating an achilles injury can be but hopes Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich overcomes heal soreness as quick as possible.

In round 18, 2013, Ibbotson suffered an achilles injury which ended his 2013 season.

Initially it was considered a week to two week injury but it resulted with him missing the several weeks, including the club’s inaugural Grand Final appearance.

Defying the clock

Pavlich is listed as a ‘test’ for this week after he underwent scans on a sore achilles on Monday.

“Hopefully, it’s nothing too bad,” Ibbotson said.

“I think Pav has had achilles problems before, which he’s been okay with.”

Ibbotson said unfortunately his own injury was prolonged.

“It was supposed to be a week by week, but it ended up being seven or eight and I missed the grand final,” he said.

“They can get better really quick but it’s an individual thing.”
