With or without Clayton Oliver, Walyalup won’t be taking Narrm lightly in Saturday’s clash at the MCG.

The Demons star is in doubt with a hamstring concern and Walyalup defender Jordan Clark said the 2021 premiers would be a tough test regardless.

Oliver, Christian Petracca and ruckmen Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy headline a Narrm engine room that also boasts Jack Viney and Lachie Hunter, while backman Angus Brayshaw may also come into the midfield to battle against his brother Andrew.

Narrm are currently fourth with a 7-3 record but they are league leaders in percentage (138.4%) and average points per game (104).

“He’s obviously a very good player, but their midfield goes a lot deeper than just Clayton Oliver,” Clark said.

“They have a really strong midfield and a really strong team. We’re still expecting Narrm’s best this weekend.

“Their (forwards) are as potent as any forward line in the AFL at the moment. We’re going to have to be at our best to give them a good run this weekend.”

Walyalup are 10th and are one of four teams with a 5-5 record, but sit outside the eight with a percentage of 101.6%, behind Geelong in seventh (120.6%), Adelaide in eighth (107.4%) and Essendon in ninth (102.6%).

Clark said Walyalup would need to continue playing at their best if they are to feature in finals.

They are coming off three straight wins, including against last year’s grand finalists in Geelong and Sydney.

“We have a long way to go before we start talking about finals,” Clark said.

“I feel if we keep playing the way we are, there’s no doubt that it could stack up later in the year.

“We are just focusing on week to week at the moment and looking forward to this week.

“It’s a really exciting feeling amongst the group right now, really energetic and we’re playing fun footy at the moment.”
