Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber says midfielder Nat Fyfe is in good spirits as he begins rehab on his injured left leg.
Fyfe was ruled out of the final two rounds of the home and away season with periostitis in his fibula.
“As has been reported, Nathan has some lower leg soreness,” Weber said.
“As a group we felt needed to be addressed pretty acutely, given what’s in front of us.
“Nathan is in really good spirits, he’s training well and we’re really confident of getting him into the finals period.
“To this point we’ll continue to progress on KPIs.”
Captain Matthew Pavlich (Achilles) is expected to train on Friday and is likely to be available for selection after he missed Sunday’s loss to North Melbourne.
Draftee Connor Blakely is set to miss one to two weeks with an ankle injury he suffered playing for Peel Thunder in the WAFL on Saturday.
“Connor had a nasty incident,” Weber said.
“It looked solid at the outset but he’s done some incredible work through his rehab early in the week, and he’s up and running.
“We’re hoping he’ll only miss this weekend.
Zac Clarke (concussed) suffered a head knock during Peel’s game but is expected to train unhindered this week.
