Peel have remained equal-top of the WAFL ladder after romping to a dominant 62-point win over Swan Districts at Rushton Park on Sunday afternoon.
A win set up courtesy of quick scoring in the second and fourth quarters, Peel recorded a 17.17.118 to 9.2.56 victory.
12 Fremantle-listed players were in action for Peel, with Liam Henry starring in the game on his way to 28 disposals, six marks, five tackles and five inside 50s.
Will Brodie shook off a tag by Swans Districts player Jehb O’Donohue, to finish with 24 possessions and four inside 50s.
Peel had 33 scoring shots from 64 inside 50s compared to Swans' 26 inside 50s, with the Thunder also leading in all statistical categories aside from tackles for the day.
Six goal blitzes in the second and fourth quarters helped Peel set up and finish off the commanding performance, after initially heading into quarter time behind by nine points.
Peel came into the second quarter a changed side, with better accuracy and more flowing football leading a stunning comeback.
Swan Districts couldn’t keep up with the onslaught as they struggled to get the ball inside their forward 50.
Tom Emmett (15 disposals, two goals) scored the goal of the game with a slick dummy to beat his man followed by a outside of the boot kick to bend the ball through the posts.
Sam Sturt (24 disposals, seven marks) also kicked a maximum thanks to a quality kick from teammate Corey Wagner.
Josh Draper (13 disposals, three inside 50s) exemplified the increased pressure with an impressive smother in the midfield, keeping the Swans longing for a goal.
While the scoring slowed after half time, Peel were able to keep on the pressure, keeping their three goal lead intact.
The final quarter saw the floodgates open for Peel as they kicked six goals through the term to put the result well beyond doubt.
After the win Liam Henry highlighted the connection within the group.
“As a team we held really well together, we were coming off a really good win last week and wanted to back that up,” Henry said.
“We knew that if we could keep playing our way and keep going we’d be able to breakthrough.”
Henry said he is looking forward to developing further as a player throughout the season.
“I just want to build my footy, I’m only playing in my fourth year,” Henry said.
“I’m just trying to build as a better footy player and a better person on and off the field.”
Peel will set their sights on a round six fixture with West Coast this Saturday, with bouncedown at 2.10pm at Rushton Park in Mandurah.
