Peel Thunder have been handed their first defeat of the season in a tough outing against South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Saturday.
Unable to capitalise on the scoreboard, the Thunder went down by 44 points to the Bulldogs with a final score of 6.12.48 to South Fremantle's 13.14.92.
Twelve Fremantle-listed players were in action for the ANZAC weekend clash, that saw Neil Erasmus bounce back from a quiet game last weekend to finish with 27 disposals and eight tackles against the Bulldogs.
Ruckman Liam Reidy tallied 20 hitouts for the match, while Worner (21 disposals, six tackles), Wilson (23 disposals) and O'Driscoll (16 disposals, four inside 50s) also featured consistently.
South Fremantle jumped out of the blocks with a strong first half to open up a 36-point margin at the main break.
Peel's defensive pressure went a long way to keep the Thunder relatively in the game throughout, but inaccuracy in front of the scoreboard proved costly in the end.
The Bulldogs won the inside 50 count 60-40 and had 27 scoring shots compared to Peel's 18.
Speaking post-game, Emmett said that the team needed to work on their contested ball and improved connection across the three lines.
“We were pretty much just playing soft football," Emmett said.
"We were just trying to lift the intensity and contested ball in there.
“Our focuses will be to keep driving our legs, testing the tackle and staying connected in all three lines.”
Emmett said he already felt at home at both Fremantle and Peel, despite it being just his third WAFL game.
“The boys are amazing, it can definitely be tough coming into a new side," Emmett said.
"All the Peel boys are unbelievable and it’s a great culture down here.”
Peel will look to bounce back in a round four clash with East Perth at Leederville Oval on Saturday 29 April, with bouncedown at 1.40pm.
