This year Fremantle will celebrate the 21st anniversary of the annual Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32, in their round 8 game against Hawthorn. 
 
Since Fremantle’s first ever annual Starlight Purple Haze game in 2003, the match has become a marquee event in the calendar looked forward to by the Club, players and fans alike.
 
To celebrate the 21-year milestone, Fremantle will wear a special edition jumper paying tribute to the tireless work of the Starlight Captains.

This year’s jumper will feature four yellow stripes that fade to white as they come together in the middle to meet at a Starlight wand.

These stripes represent the same design that Starlight Captains don on their capes, as well as the wands that are famously associated with the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

In addition to the captain tributes, the jumper will also feature one thick white chevron behind the wand and will see three stars coming over each shoulder alongside a yellow collar.

Captain Starlight is a ‘superhero of fun’ helping sick kids cope with the uncertainty and worry of hospitals and treatment. Being able to have fun with Captain Starlight helps sick kids feel happier, more confident and puts them in a better place to deal with pain and stress.

It helps reduce boredom, stress and anxiety and improves overall health and well-being. When Captain Starlight is around to help, sick kids can simply be kids.

The program was developed in partnership with leading Australian health professionals to complement the Australian healthcare system and creates a lasting positive impact on the lives of sick kids.

Retail jumpers will be made for purchase at $150 each, with $50 per purchase going to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
