Fremantle has equalled its greatest ever representation in the Virgin Australia 2014 AFL All Australian Team with Aaron Sandilands, Nat Fyfe and Hayden Ballantyne all named in the final 22 on Tuesday evening.

The club last had three players achieve the honour in 2003 when Matthew Pavlich, Paul Hasleby and Peter Bell were selected.

For Sandilands, it was his fourth selection in the ruck after he was All Australian three consecutive years from 2008 to 2010.

The Freo champion enjoyed one of his finest seasons, leading the AFL for average hitouts per game and hitouts-to-advantage.

Fyfe, who was named in the centre line, earned his first All Australian jumper in a season that also saw the AFL players vote him as their Most Valuable Player last Tuesday evening.

The 22-year-old sat out four games through suspension, but when he was on the field in 2014 he was sensational at ground level and in the air.

It capped off an amazing year of personal accolades for Fyfe, who won the 2013 Doig Medal

Ballantyne was named as a forward pocket. He had his finest season in Freo’s forward line, booting a club-leading 49 goals – 15 more than his previous best, which came in 2013.

The enigmatic forward kicked three or more majors in 11 of his 20 appearances in 2014, standing tall during the injury-enforced absence of Michael Walters.

Michael Johnson was Freo’s sole representative in 2013, while Luke McPharlin was selected in the 2012 team.

Matthew Pavlich has the most All Australian jumpers at the club, with the captain named in the team in 2002 and 2003, and four consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2008.
