Essendon coach James Hird turned his side’s attention towards Fremantle just moments after the Bombers 148-point drubbing of Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday night.

Bomber TV’s The Hangar showed the Essendon legend’s post-match address to his players, and the respect for Ross Lyon’s Fremantle team was clear.

“Next week is going to be one of the toughest games we’ve played for the year. They are as good as anyone in the competition, don’t worry about that,” Hird said to his players.

“Pat yourselves on the back. well done, great victory, but lets get ready for Freo.

“They’re the ones we’re after.

“We’ll have to be on our toes, play our best football and confront some of the best defensive pressure in the competition.”
