Fremantle have completed their first pick swap of the NAB AFL Draft and Trade period.
In a swap with North Melbourne, Fremantle receive pick 43 in exchange for a future fourth round selection (tied to Hawthorn).
Fremantle originally received the pick in the trade with Hawthorn involving Jaeger O'Meara and Lloyd Meek.
The addition of the third round selection boosts Fremantle's 2022 draft hand, which is currently 30, 43, 44, 67 and 76.
Fremantle's Head of Player Personnel David Walls said the pick will move higher up the order once Brisbane make their bid on father-son prospect Will Ashcroft.
"Brisbane have four picks in the 30s in 34, 35, 36 and 38 - so when the Will Ashcroft bid comes, those picks will come out of the system, meaning this selection will move up to 40," Walls said.
Fremantle now hold consecutive picks early in the third round, which gives Fremantle flexibility with the players they target.
"Having back-to-back picks does help with list management needs," Walls said.
"It means we can juggle that and take two players that meet what we need from a list management point of view in terms of type and roles of player."
The three-day NAB AFL Draft will run from Monday 28 November starting with round one, followed by the remainder of the National Draft on Tuesday 29 November and the Rookie Draft on Wednesday 30 November.
