After a successful three seasons at the Melbourne Demons, Fremantle’s Luke Jackson is excited to turn his attention to being a part of his new Club’s first premiership.

A Fremantle member and fan growing up, Jackson has made the return to WA to play in front of his family and friends and has embraced the love he had for the Club growing up.

“I was a Dockers fan growing up and it hasn’t really sunk in to be honest, it feels like the draft again,” Jackson said.

“We became members when I was about 13 and I tried to get to every game we could. I think my footy grew from there and I think the love for Freo came from that.

“I’m looking forward to playing for Freo and it’s pretty much been a dream of mine since I started playing footy. I just can’t wait.”

The 21-year-old fits right into Fremantle’s age demographic, including young stars Caleb Serong and Hayden Young, who were also top 10 picks in the 2019 draft class.

Serong and Jackson have proven to be the early stars from the crop, with Serong winning the 2020 NAB AFL Rising Star and Jackson earning the honour the following year in Melbourne’s premiership season.

“(Fremantle have) such a young core and are all really good players that are driven for success,” Jackson said.

“Hopefully I can fit right in there and the main goal is to bring a flag to Freo, that would be awesome. I just want to get to work really and meet all the boys.

“If it was next year, that would be unreal but there is a lot of hard work to go. We’re going to be aiming high.

“After tasting the success (at Melbourne) hopefully we can bring a flag to Freo, being a part of the first one would be pretty nice.”
