Fremantle star Ebony Antonio is making rapid progress in her return from a knee injury, according to Senior Physio Gabby Charlton.
The versatile tall who has played forward, backline and on the wing, sustained a PCL injury in a pre-season game against West Coast at Fremantle Oval in August.
Antonio is listed as three to five weeks away in the Perth Radiological Clinic injury update, meaning she could be back in time for Freo’s round eight clash with Collingwood.
“Ebony has done some really solid runs since coming out of her brace and she’s continuing to gain confidence in her knee,” Charlton said.
“We’re hopeful to see Ebony in some basic skill drills with the main group towards the back end of this week.”
Defender Madi Scanlon is set to benefit from Fremantle’s 10-day break, with hopes she will return from a wrist injury for Sunday’s clash with Melbourne at Fremantle Oval.
Scanlon sustained the injury in Freo’s round five draw against Carlton and didn’t recover in time for the RAC Derby.
“Madi’s had some ongoing pain with her wrist injury,” Charlton said.
“With our quick turnaround to the Derby she wasn’t quite ready to go. We’re hoping the 10-day break gives Madi a bit of time to rest and recover.”
Charlton said there were no concerns with Roxy Roux’s fitness after she sustained a head knock in the RAC Derby in what was her return from an ankle injury.
“Roxy’s ankle was completely pain free, but she also sustained a high elbow in a ruck contest that got stitched up at half time and she was able to play out the game,” Charlton said.
“Roxy was feeling really good after the game so we don’t suspect that will impact her football.”
Matilda Sergeant is set to advance in her recovery from a foot injury. The defender is yet to play in Season 7.
“Tildy got some recent scans on her foot, which have been really promising and showing some good signs of the bone healing,” Charlton said.
“She’ll come off her crutches and start weight bearing through her moon boot.
“It also means we can do a little bit more with Tildy in the gym, so we’re all excited to see her enter a more active stage of reconditioning.”
