Fremantle defensive pair Janelle Cuthbertson and Jess Low have both recovered well following a nasty head clash in Freo’s loss to Brisbane at the weekend.

The incident between Cuthbertson and Low occurred in the second term of Fremantle’s match on Sunday, with both taking no further part in the game after coming to the bench following the head clash.

AFLW Senior Physio Gabby Charlton said Cuthbertson was taken out of the game as a pre-caution, while Low will miss next week’s round two clash with Geelong after entering the AFLW’s concussion protocols.

“JC walked away from that collision with a broken nose. She has had some pretty nasty head injuries in the past, so we pulled her from the game as a pre-caution,” Charlton said.

“She will work closely with our medical team over the next couple of days just to watch for any signs of delayed concussion - JC’s welfare is our top priority at the moment.

“Jess sustained a concussion from the incident - she is going okay and has already improved a little bit, but because she will enter the AFLW’s concussion protocols, she will be unavailable for this weekend.”

Charlton said both Kara Antonio (hamstring) and Ebony Antonio (PCL) are tracking well in their rehabilitation.

“They are going really well in their reconditioning and are doing lots of hard work with our boxing coach (Gary Ingraham),” Charlton said.

“Juddy’s KPI’s are on track to see her return to running at the end of the week and Ebony has just returned to work following her knee injury.”

Meanwhile, Hayley Miller returned to the field for the first time on Sunday after missing both pre-season practice matches with a calf complaint.

Charlton said the Fremantle captain had pulled up well following the Brisbane clash.

“Hayley has been able to get a solid couple of weeks of training under her belt in the lead-up to round one,” Charlton said.

“She got through the Brisbane game really well, so it’s great to have her back on the track.”
