Fremantle’s players are confident the back-to-back six-day breaks with travel heading into Friday’s game against North Melbourne will not affect the team.

A Saturday fixture in Sydney followed up a game on Sunday in Perth against Essendon two weeks ago.

Michael Johnson said the schedule presented the club with a challenge, but one Freo had no doubts it could meet.

“It’s just part of footy these days,” he said.

“We returned after the Sydney game and ticked off all the boxes with recovery and massage and all the things you need to do to get yourself up.

“Besides, North are coming off the same break as us and are travelling here.”

Nat Fyfe echoed Johnson’s sentiments.

“It’s definitely a tougher week, the short week on the back of a pretty physical game and travelling, but we’re equipped for all situations,” he said.

“We’ve had a light week on the track and we’re ready to go for Friday night.”

Fyfe said the players all followed a meticulous recovery program at the club, but also away from it.

“The guys all did their own individual recovery away from the club on Sunday and Monday after the Sydney game,” he said.

“That includes getting in the ice bins, going down to the beach in the saltwater or just going for a light jog to get rid of any bruising.

“We did a light training session on Wednesday at the club and that will basically be all we’ll do in the week.”

Johnson also made special mention of the Len Hall Tribute Game, which he said was always a privilege to play in.

“It’s great for the club and the supporters to get to Patersons Stadium and support this occasion,” he said.

“The players never forget what our service men and women have done for our country over the years.

“Hopefully, we’ll get a big crowd there to support us, but more importantly to remember our fallen soldiers and those still fighting for us.”
