Plenty of backyard footy players have put themselves in this scenario.
Less than a minute on the clock, needing to kick a goal to win or hold onto a small lead.
Fremantle has been put through its paces, practicing just that.
Ladder not indicator of best team: Lyon
Senior coach Ross Lyon told Fox Footy on Monday that the side had practiced close-game scenarios, which had paid dividends.
The side has been in a number of close games including a seven-point win over the Gold Coast on Saturday and a nine-point win over Adelaide in Round 9.
“We did some close-game scenarios pre the Adelaide game and funnily enough found ourselves in a close game and it certainly helped us,” Lyon said.
Lyon said the side had focused on in-game scenarios during the pre-season too.
“We restructured our summer with more game sense training and mini-football,” he said.
Although Lyon said it was difficult to practice in-game scenarios while focusing on the basics on the track.
“The game has so many fundamentals you have to get right and then prepare for the opposition,” he said.
“It’s hard to get the win-the-game or save-the-game scenarios done enough.”
