QUESTION marks still hover over the fitness of Nathan Fyfe, who rolled his ankle while playing with a football in his hotel room in the lead-up to Saturday's 28-point loss to Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

Fyfe has undergone scans and should find out the results by Monday afternoon.

"It's just one of those freak accidents," Fremantle defender Matt de Boer said of Fyfe's injury.

"He's always got a footy in his hands and he was just getting his touch ready on game day and he just accidentally slipped on a suitcase or something.

"I'm sure he annoyed his mum at an early age around the house breaking glasses probably.

"He definitely handles the football all the time. It's just very unfortunate it happened to cause an injury."

The setback is particularly frustrating for Fyfe considering he had already missed 12 games this season due to a shoulder injury.

But there is good news on the injury front, with ruckman Aaron Sandilands set to return from a toe injury.

Sandilands will have to prove his fitness at training this week if he is to be given the nod to resume against Richmond at Patersons Stadium.

Te 29-year-old hasn't played since suffering his latest bout of 'turf toe' in round 11 but he is optimistic he will be ready to go against the Tigers.

And in an added boost for the Dockers, premier defender Luke McPharlin will slot straight back into the side after serving his one-match ban for rough conduct.

Forward Chris Mayne, who suffered a concussion against Adelaide, will be assessed by the club's medical staff before a decision is made on his availability.

Fremantle (11-8) sit just percentage adrift of eighth spot, while Richmond hasn't given up on their own finals hopes despite their modest 9-10 win-loss record.
