Ruck Sean Darcy and defender Nathan Wilson will both be pushing to be available for selection for Fremantle’s round two clash with St Kilda this Saturday at Optus Stadium.

Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell said Darcy had improved following some awareness in his calf.

“Sean is going really well. He had the calf awareness and he’s put in a lot of work over the weekend,” Bell said in the Perth Radiological Clinic injury update.

“We think that he’ll be available for main training and also available for selection.”

After sustaining a shoulder injury in Fremantle’s AAMI Community Series match against West Coast, defender Nathan Wilson will also be a test for this weekend.

“His shoulder has improved, he was able to get through some pretty solid contact work on the weekend,” Bell said

“We think that he should be available for main training and available for selection this week.”

While Nat Fyfe is not out of the conversation for this weekend, Bell said that the captain hasn’t improved as expected just yet.

“With his sore back, it’s been a little bit frustrating, we probably haven’t seen the improvement that we wanted and certainly that Nathan wants, some days are better than others,” Bell said.

“We haven’t given up hope for this weekend, but we’ll just see on Thursday what sort of training he can do at main training and then make a decision from there accordingly.”

A timeline has also been given for Matt Taberner’s return, with the key forward a chance to return in time for round three’s RAC Derby showdown with West Coast.

“Taberner won’t play this week. We’ve put one to three weeks so there is a chance that he’ll be available for the RAC Derby,” Bell said

“We just want to see how he gets through the next few main training sessions before we make that call, but he’s not far away.”
