Fremantle’s AFL side is back in action on Thursday night at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide for the inaugural AFLX tournament.

Drawn in Pool A, Fremantle will face off against Geelong at 4.36pm (WST) followed by a clash with Port Adelaide at 5.32pm (WST).

If Freo tops Pool A, they will face off between the winner of Pool B, which consists of Adelaide, Collingwood and West Coast.

The final will be played at 6.33pm WST.

The games will be broadcast from 3.30pm in Perth on FOX Footy, 7TWO and streamed via the AFL Live app.

THE GAME
AFLX games will feature neon goalposts, silver footys and 10-point ‘Zooper’ goals.

They will be played on rectangular fields approximately 70m wide and 110m long.

Along with the half length, the number 10 features throughout the new format. This includes the name, with X being the Roman numeral for 10.

There are 10 players per side, with seven on the field and three on the bench and there are 10 points allocated to ‘Zooper’ goals from outside the 40m arc.

Each half will start with a ball-up, these will be the only ruck contests for the game.

Other modified rules include free kick against for a last touch out of bounds, no marks for backwards kicks outside the attacking 40m area and a free shot from the 40m arc for deliberate rushed behinds.
