To our Fremantle members,
Firstly, happy new year to you and your family. I hope the start of 2022 has been a positive one for you all.
Our year has certainly started strongly with our women’s team on top of the AFLW ladder after notching two wins from their first two games.
Our men’s pre-season program has ramped up since their return from the Christmas break and the coaches are really priming them for round 1 in March.
I wanted to touch base following last night’s announcement by the State Government to delay the opening of WA’s borders.
The decision is one that would have some of our members feeling frustrated and disappointed, and others feeling safe and secure.
Either way, I’m sure all of you are wondering what it will mean for the footy in 2022.
As a Club, we will immediately turn our attention to working with the AFL and WA Police to ascertain what the remainder of our women's season and the commencement of the men’s season will look like.
For the past two years, every challenge that Covid-19 has presented our Club and our industry has been accepted and met, and this one will be no different.
We will keep working as hard as we can to get the best result possible for the Club and appreciate your patience and understanding as always.
We will update you again once we have worked with the relevant stakeholders and have more information to provide.
In the meantime, please look after yourselves and let’s barrack hard for our girls tomorrow afternoon as they look to make it three from three when they take on the Tigers.
Go Freo!
Simon Garlick
