The Freo Line-Up: They’re back
Find out the big inclusions for Sunday’s match against St Kilda at Patersons Stadium
Lee Spurr also returns after he missed last weekend’s loss to Geelong with a bout of gastro.
The defender replaces fellow backman Paul Duffield, who is out for a fortnight with a calf injury.
Defender Alex Silvagni and midfielder Cam Sutcliffe were also added to the extended 25-man squad.
Going out of the team are youngsters Jack Hannath and Viv Michie, while Hayden Crozier misses with a groin injury.
Three players will be cut from the squad after Friday morning’s training session on Fremantle Oval.
General manager of football Chris Bond confirmed Pavlich and Sandilands as definite starters on Sunday if they get through Friday’s session.
“It’s been a long road back for both of them, so we expect them to get through training and we expect them to play,” Bond said.
He said it was a similar case for midfielders Mundy (calf) and Barlow (jaw).
Mundy has missed the past two games with a calf injury, while Barlow sat out the Cats encounter following a jaw procedure.
“Both of them have had a good week on the track,” Bond said.
“There’s four players that are definitely in if they can get through the week.”
With Spurr missing last week and now Duffield out, Bond admitted that the continuity of Freo’s league-best defence had been slightly affected.
“When good players go out, yes, it does affect it,” he said.
“Paul’s had a very good year for us, but Lee Spurr coming back is very important to us.”
Bond said second-year midfielder/forward Crozier was out with groin soreness.
“It’s nothing serious… it’s a chance to de-load him and we still think he’ll play an important part towards the end of the year,” he said.
