Fremantle pair Caleb Serong and Josh Treacy have both been nominated for the Rebel Goal of the Year in Freo’s RAC Derby win over West Coast on Sunday.
Serong’s entry was a freakish attempt from deep in Fremantle’s forward pocket at a crucial point in the match.
With 12 minutes left on the clock, Serong gathered a loose ball and fell to the Optus deck, before getting up and regaining his composure to kick a check side snap off just one step.
Meanwhile, Treacy got on the end of some slick ball movement from Fremantle out of their defensive half, with a stunning left foot snap.
The movement chain started from a clearing Tobe Watson handball in Freo’s defensive arc before Bailey Banfield, David Mundy, Alex Pearce, Brandon Walker and Matt Taberner combined to help get the ball into Treacy’s hands.
Serong and Treacy have both been nominated alongside Port Adelaide’s Todd Marshall.
