Andrew Brayshaw's one-match suspension has been upheld by the AFL Tribunal in a hearing on Tuesday evening.

It means the midfielder will miss Sunday's RAC Derby clash with West Coast at Optus Stadium.

The midfielder was initially charged by the AFL's match review officer for Making Unreasonable or Unnecessary Contact to the Eye Region of Brisbane's Jarrod Berry, during the second quarter of Fremantle's clash with Brisbane on Sunday at Optus Stadium.

Fremantle unsuccessfully argued that Brayshaw's actions were Careless Conduct, which would have reduced the sanction as a fine.

Instead, the Tribunal upheld the MRO's initial classification and the one-match sanction stood.

Following the verdict, executive general manager of football Peter Bell said Fremantle would consider an appeal.

"We're disappointed with the result of tonight's tribunal hearing," Bell said.

"There are mechanisms by which we can appeal, so overnight, we'll take some advice on that and make a decision by tomorrow."
