With pick no.31, Fremantle have drafted Dana East in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.
Read more about East below.
DOB: 10/6/2002
POSITION: Inside Mid
HEIGHT: 167cm
DRAFTED FROM: Swan Districts
East is relatively new to football having played basketball previously, and has only been in the football pathway for two years.
She is a competitive inside mid who is clean and distributes well by hand. Her kicking has developed nicely in a short period and she is also a competent forward.
There is a great desire from her to work and improve and she has the potential to develop into a capable AFLW player.
East starred for WA at the 2021 NAB AFL U19 Championships. She ranked equal seventh for clearances and second for tackles overall, while also averaging 20 disposals per game across the Championships.
Trent Cooper’s comments
Dana is a former basketballer who is fairly new to football and just made the move to Perth from Manjimup to further her football. She’s just had an outstanding season for Swan Districts.
She’s a really competitive and tough inside midfielder who has also shown that she can play forward.
Dana’s the type of player that we’d love to see work with Kiara Bowers, as she has the potential to become someone we could build a midfield around going forward.
