Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe has undergone a successful surgery on his injured shoulder in Melbourne, according to executive general manager of football Peter Bell.
In the round 20 Envision Medical Imaging injury update, Bell gave the latest on the Fremantle captain, who is out for the rest of the 2021 season.
“Nat’s pulled up well and the surgeon is reporting that everything went to plan,” Bell said.
“It was the same surgeon who had operated previously on Nathan and he’s spending a few days recovering in Melbourne currently.”
On Tuesday, Fyfe posed on Instagram to say he had pulled up well.
“Hey Freo fam, the shoulder op went well and I'm resting up ready for next season,” Fyfe wrote.
“Disappointed I can't finish the year with my team but relieved I can start healing. Will be right behind the boys for the rest of the year!”
Michael Walters is in a race to be fit for the final round of the home and away season while Alex Pearce will miss at least one week due to concussion.
“It’s disappointing for Michael, he sustained a hamstring injury during the game against Sydney and at this stage it looks like a four to six week injury,” Bell said.
“Alex is going really well. We’re hoping that he’ll be able to do some running tomorrow (on Wednesday) but he’ll miss this week’s fixture.”
Bell said forward Josh Treacy was a late withdrawal from Fremantle’s round 19 clash with Sydney due to illness.
“Josh is having a run this afternoon. He came down with a bit of illness overnight (on Saturday) and was a late withdrawal for the game but he should be fine this week,” Bell said.
Bell confirmed Stephen Hill has sustained a hamstring injury playing for Peel against West Perth on Saturday.
“Stephen sustained a hamstring injury in the match for Peel on the weekend. It looks like a three to four week hamstring,” Bell said.
