Nine Fremantle-listed players were in action for Peel in a four-point loss to Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.
Senior development coach Marc Webb runs through how each player fared.
Bailey Banfield
Played on ball for the game. He had 38 possessions, 13 tackles, 10 clearances and kicked a goal in an outstanding well-rounded performance. He used the ball well, competed and gave Peel some drive from the midfield.
Travis Colyer
Played on ball where he had 27 possessions and six clearances. His link-up play and ability to spread was strong. He gave Peel some good overlap run and used the ball well going inside 50.
Bretty Bewley
Played on the wing. He ended up with 21 possessions and six tackles. Brett’s work rate to help link up between the defensive 50 and forward line was good, as was his pressure with six tackles. His ability to keep the ball around the contest continues to improve with six tackles.
Tom North
Played forward and on the ball. He broke the space well this week as a high forward. Tom presented well up the ground and when he went on ball, he was strong with his body work and ended up with four clearances and 20 possessions.
Sam Sturt
Played forward and on the wing. He presented well and took some good marks out in space. He was clean with his disposal.
Ryan Nyhuis
Played across half back. Ryan wasn’t beaten in his one-on-ones. He competed well in the air and on the ground and he rolled off well to support.
Tobe Watson
Played his first game back from injury where he played across the half back line. Tobe’s reading of the play and roll off to support other defenders was important in the first half, where he helped drive some strong forward attacks. He competed well and was able to help rebound with seven rebound 50s.
Hugh Dixon
Played forward for the game. He ended up with nine possessions and a goal and pinched hit in the ruck. Hugh was a part of the group that pressured well in the forward 50 with seven tackles. He showed improvement at bringing the ball to ground which helped the small forwards lock the ball in.
Scott Jones
Played in the ruck and forward at times. He ended up with 49 hitouts and he put in a really good effort around the contest with seven tackles. Scott gave Peel good first use, especially in the opening three quarters.
