Fremantle leader Alex Pearce implored his fellow Freo teammates to find another gear to honour what Nat Fyfe has given to the Club ahead of his 200^th.

Before Freo ran out to take on the Hawks at UTAS Stadium on Saturday, Pearce presented Fyfe with his 200^th game jumper.

Pearce told players and staff that playing alongside Fyfe would go down as one of the highlights of his football journey.

The speech has its desired effect with Freo running out convincing 62-point winners.

“I think as players we’ve become desensitised about how great Nathan’s been and what he’s achieved,” Pearce said.

“When the years pass when we’re sitting with our grandkids, they’ll ask what was it like to play with Nathan Fyfe. 

“I’d say it’s been really special. I’d want to talk about what we see that isn’t really spoken about; his injuries and what he’s had to endure.

“You see that look in Nathan’s eyes when he’s out there, it’s a seasoned grimace when he’s in pain and struggling but you know when you see that grimace he’s going to find another gear. 

“He doesn’t worry about his welfare, it’s all about the jumper for Nathan.”

Pearce highlighted how the two-time Brownlow Medallist had paid a price for his greatness.

“He’s a great player (and) captain, he’s been a leader of this club tor so long and has the courage that sometimes it takes a toll.

“It’s special to have been by his side and I’d like to reflect on what Nathan’s given to us as a team, as individuals and the playing group.

“Let’s support and look after him, because when we start to reflect on what he’s given for us and the sacrifices he’s done, there’s really nothing we shouldn’t do for him.

“It’s been an absolute privilege to play alongside you and congratulations on your 200^th game.”
