Josh Simpson - Walking on a Dream
Playing AFL has been Josh Simpson’s dream ever since he could walk.
With the 17th selection in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft, Fremantle made that dream a reality for the 18-year-old West Australian.
“I can’t really explain it, I’m kind of relieved,” Simspon said just minutes after his name was called out by Fremantle general manager of player management Brad Lloyd.
“I’m very happy to be in WA, all my family wanted me to stay at home, so I’m happy Freo picked me up."
Simpson, who went shopping this afternoon to try and take his mind off the draft, said his Grandmother was the biggest influence in his life.
“My grandmother has put everything into my success,” he said.
“She has kept me on the right track and I owe her a lot.”
Simpson, who was present at the draft on the Gold Coast, will fly back to WA on Friday to join his new club.
